Features of Technology from IMMT
“TERAFIL” is a burnt red clay porous media used for filtration and treatment of raw water. ‘TERAFIL’ is produced from mixture of red clay, river sand and saw dust (wood) without using chemicals. The average diameter of the capillary opening in the thin clay walls of the TERAFIL is in submicron size; therefore almost all suspended particles and microbes etc. present in the raw water are unable to travel along the filtered water inside the TERAFIL filter. Almost all soluble iron and heavy metals present in the raw water also removed by ion exchange or absorption process.
About 99% of turbidity and 90-95% of micro organism, 90-95% of soluble iron etc. are removed effectively from the raw water through the TERAFIL. The pH of water is also improved during filtration of acidic water. Therefore, TERAFIL water filter is able to provide good quality clean drinking water either from surface or ground water sources for a long period without significant maintenance.
